Wu Shan Wu Xing (Fog Hill of the Five Elements)

Like Demon Slayer - but better.

Fog Hill of the Five Elements, or Wu Shan Wu Xing, is an action packed 3 episode Donghua Original Net Animation with wonderful flowing animation and memorable character designs, each of which pull from China's art and culture. While only the exposition of what is going to be a running plot, so far what has been made is quite intriguing, with the first two fight scenes being spectatcularly animated and show a great bit of emotion and tension between the two warring sides of the axes and the monsters.

Now: a dive into the plot: the world which the story is set in is a mythical world where there are five elements each one representing fire, water, wood, earth and metal. This stems back to the Chinese concept of the five elements. Each element has its own guardian, or axis, and their task is to protect against evil monsters from another realm. However, after a young dragon, an offspring of a monster, has escaped into the human world, it is up to the elements to bring it back into their realm, before the monsters wreak their havoc in search of the dragon. While this is a simple premise, it is the presentation that ties this anime together, following, in part, the fire axis, Yi Xuan Wen Ren, as well as a human, who have been brought together under the circumstances caused by the dragon.

Overall, while there is not much to talk about so far, this is definitely recommended! Please stay tuned for more, as the second season will be released later this year.

As a side note, I must congratulate Lin Hun for making this Donghua. He not only directed, but also created the show's premise, as well as the basic character designs, not to mention arranging the music within this show. Good job, Mr. Hun, you did something that typically takes an entire team to produce something only half as good. Additional congratulations to Nice Boat Animation for creating stunning animation and visuals for this series, they were stunning to say the least.
